Care Republic Inc. is a non-profit organization that works diligently to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms by guiding justice innovators, nationally and internationally. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities. We work to bring programs like this to underprivileged communities throughout.
Headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, Care Republic serves the population of not only NY but throughout the world. Care Republic Alternative Solutions Project is a branch of our Character Enhancement and Behavioral Reform initiatives. Care Republic’ is working on acquiring the opportunity to offer criminal justice programming in the areas of pretrial diversion programming thru regular monitoring and referral services to misdemeanor and non-violent felony defendants whose cases are pending; and alternative to Incarceration programming for non-violent crimes by providing additional sentencing options for non-violent offenders. We aim to provide these programs in hopes to help reduce the reliance on pre-trial detention and short-term jail sentences and offers defendants the assistance they need to avoid further criminal conduct.

Care Republic’s Alternative Solution Project seeks to help re engineer how the justice system works in our communities. In particular, the Justice Center is dedicated to building multiple off-ramps for young people who come into contact with the justice system by providing much-needed services to young people arrested in our communities. The aim is to provide the kind of support that young people need to become law-abiding members of society. The ultimate goal is to reduce crime and the use of incarceration, while at the same restoring local faith in the justice system.
Future Goals of Care Republic’s Alternative Solutions Project
- To oversee the project’s supervised release, alternative to incarceration, clinical services, intake, and compliance work;
- To include a senior staff and a range of professionals including social workers, case managers, attorneys, interns, and researchers;
- To coordinate efforts of resource coordinators, intake and clinical staff to maximize effectiveness of alternative to detention and incarceration programming, including social services and compliance monitoring for criminal justice involved populations;
- To maintain and establish relationships with court players, community-based social service and leaders, programs and other criminal justice agencies and partners;
- To work with judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, other court administrators, and community leaders and agencies to ensure program operations run smoothly;
- To oversee day-to-day alternative to detention program management and development;
- To oversee the quality of program data and materials, refining and improving workflow and case processing when necessary;
- To devise and implement strategies for improving department cohesiveness and interdepartmental communication;
- To assist in coordinating research, planning, and reporting activities;
- To assist the Project Director and the Center’s Development team in grant management and writing, which includes monthly and quarterly reporting to funders and opportunities for new initiatives;
- To develop procedures and protocols to help track and meet grant deliverables;
- To spearhead relationships in with community leaders, organizations, and businesses for the benefit of the clients served by Care Republic.
